Shared Virtual Fax

Shared Virtual Fax allows a user can receive calls and faxes to their phone number. Faxes are answered by the user's voicemail box and are forwarded to the user's email address as a PDF based on their Forward Voicemail to Email settings.

Inbound faxing can be enabled on the voicemail boxes for Home Phone, Business Cloud Communications, and Cloud PBX users. When enabled, incoming fax calls should be allowed to go to voicemail, and then the fax will be forwarded to the user's email address as a PDF.

Set Up Voicemail-to-Email for Faxing

Home Phone

  1. Go to Account > Home Phone > Voicemail.
  2. Select the voicemail box.
  3. Scroll down to Message Settings and check Forward voicemail messages
  4. Enter the email address voicemail messages and faxes will be sent to.
  5. Click [Save].

Business Cloud Communications & Cloud PBX

  1. Go to Account > Users.
  2. Locate the user you're enabling inbound faxing for, then click Edit.
  3. Go to the user's Voicemail tab.
  4. Scroll down to Message Settings and check Forward voicemail messages
  5. Enter the email address their voicemail messages and faxes will be sent to.
  6. Click [Save].

If you're experiencing issues with your shared line confusing faxes and phone calls, try setting up a Dedicated Virtual Fax (not available for Home Phone).
