Switch Account to BCC

Modified on Thu, 14 Nov at 11:02 AM

The best way get Business Cloud Communications (BCC) is to create a new account. However, an existing account with Cloud PBX, Business Lines, or SIP Trunking products can be switched over BCC under the right circumstances.

We don't have an automated migration tool, but with one button, you can convert users, devices, and account settings over to BCC. Devices will reprovision on BCC within 30 minutes, or you can reboot the device.

Switching is Final

Business Cloud Communication (BCC) is on a new platform that is not compatible with our Cloud PBX, SIP Trunk, or Business Line products. If you switch to BCC, it will not be possible to switch back or add those products.  See also: The Differences Between CPBX & BCC

Switching Requirements

Before an existing account can be switched to BCC, there are a few things you need to do:

1. User Email Addresses

For each user, go to Users > Settings tab and check that they have a valid email address. This is where the user’s login information is sent.

2. Products

Remove any and all Business Lines and SIP Trunks from the account. If the account still needs these products, consider creating a separate account for BCC instead of switching.

3. IVRs

Business Cloud Communication uses Auto-Attendant, which is an upgraded version of the IVR. Once an account is switched, any IVRs will be immediately disconnected. After the switch, the IVR page will be available for reference until the IVRs are recreated in Auto-Attendant and the old IVR record is deleted.

It may take about 5 minutes to recreate a simple IVR and 30 minutes for more advanced scenarios. Remember to download your menu and message audio files from the current IVR to speed up the process.

All phone numbers assigned to IVRs should be reassigned prior to the switch. Go to Cloud PBX > Phone Numbers > Edit (right) and change the Phone Number Rings To field to another user or "None.

  2. Under Products, click [Switch Account Type].
  3. Select Business Cloud.
  4. Read through any warnings and continue.

Default Feature Plan (License)

When migrating an account from Cloud PBX to Business Cloud Communications, each user is automatically assigned a Standard license and the Voice Portal Access togglewill be off, so you won’t be required to enter their email address.

Next Steps

You're not quite done yet! Now is a good time to recreate your IVRs in Auto-Attendant. See Auto-Attendant Setup for details.
