Management > Calling Plans

Looking to set up bundles of minutes customers can use when calling long distance or international? Want to block outgoing calls to certain locations? We can make it happen—it's what Calling Plans are all about!

Add a Calling Plan

1. Go to Management > Calling Plans.

2. Click [+ Add a Calling Plan] on the right.

Calling Plan - Settings3. Under Settings, enter or select the following information

CodeDescription
NameEnter the name of the calling plan.
Plan MinutesEnter the number of minutes the plan will offer, between 0 and 100,000.
Unlimited DisplayDisplay the plan as "unlimited" to the assigned users.
OverageAllow calls through even when minutes are exhausted. Calls made in this situation will be rated based on the rates specified in this plan; they are not free.
Forward RestrictionsPrevent calls from being forwarded outside of the calling plan. (Recommended)
Default PlanAssign this plan to new accounts or users by default. The calling plan assigned to a user or account can be changed during the creation process.
Unlimited Local CallingPrevent calls to local numbers from counting against the minutes on the plan.

Calling Plan - Per Call Rates4. Under Per Call Rates, check the boxes to indicate if users assigned to this plan will be allowed to dial 411 or the operator. If yes, enter the rate at which those calls will be charged.

5. Click [Save].

Modify Calling Plan Definition File

  1. Select a calling plan and click Edit.
  2. In the Per Call Rates section, click [Export] to download the calling plan rules in a CSV file.

  3. Open the .csv file. There are 7 columns:
    ColumnDescription
PrefixBeginning portion of the phone number.
DescriptionIdentifies the prefix's location and, sometimes, whether the number is mobile or not.
PerMinuteRateCost to call numbers beginning with the prefix.
    MinimumSeconds

What's the minimum number of billable seconds.

Most companies will round up calls less than 60 seconds to a full minute.

    IncrementSeconds

After the minimum seconds have been reached, what should the system round the following seconds to?

Most companies will round calls to the next minute for simplicity in billing.

    OnPlan

True or False: Will calls to this prefix use up available plan minutes?

If you enable overage minutes, calls to prefixes that are "On Plan" will be rated according to the per-minute rate, minimum seconds, and increment seconds set.

    IsAllowed

True or False: Will calls to this prefix be allowed?

If set to false, the prefix cannot be "On Plan" and an error message will play when your customer tries to call a number with the blocked prefix

  4. Update the file with the rates, whether the prefix is "on plan" or not, and if the prefix can be called.

  5. Save the file as a .csv.

  6. Click the field next to Import File. Locate your saved file and click Open.

  7. Click [Import].

Don't Delete Row 2!

Row 2 (Everything Else) is your fraud safety net and should NOT be deleted.  It captures anything that isn't specifically called out in the rest of the plan. You can choose to block or allow these calls.
