Convert Audio Files for IVR

Audio files used in the IVR feature on Cloud PBX must be converted to an 8-Bit Mono U-Law .wav file format.

Procedure Using Audacity

Audacity is a free audio editing program you can download to your computer.

  1. Open Audacity (download and install it if necessary).
  2. Click File > Import > Raw Data...

  3. Choose the audio recording file on your computer which you'd like to convert.
  4. This will open a box like the one below,  now import.

  5. On the left-hand side of the audio sample, you will find a drop-down arrow next to the name of the file. Click it and go down to rate and select 8000.

  6. On the bottom left-hand side, change the Project Rate to 8000.

  7. Play the file to make sure it's still okay after changing the rate and project rate.
  8. Now click File > Export > Export as WAV.

  9. A new box will pop up, name your new file and go to the file type, select other uncompressed files. Go to Header and select WAV(Microsoft). Go to encoding and select U-law.

  10. Click Save.
  11. Now go into the IVR in the Alianza Admin Portal and upload the file.
